What I’m pleased to have noticed as a result of the pandemic is just how well small to medium AV businesses have stood by their employees. In these challenging and uncertain times, any decision, however big or small, makes a big difference and early response is essential. Any decision made impacts the future of the organisation and also influences the perception of the organisation by customers, partners and the wider industry for years to come. The safeguarding and well-being of employees and their families was certainly a priority for Peerless-AV globally, and businesses in the Middle East, Africa and India were also exemplary in their handling of the situation and protection of employees. I saw certain companies going above and beyond to keep morale high and they really set a precedent for others. The ability of Peerless-AV and these other exemplary businesses to take a broader view, anticipate scenarios and act accordingly has ensured stability and reassuring guidance throughout the crisis. I’ve been at Peerless-AV for almost three years and the company is the best I’ve worked for. Of course I’d say that, but the communication and tight knit team ethos since COVID-19 really has shone out for all to see. We’ve had some tough times, losing a dear friend and colleague in Melinda, but the company has stuck together like a family, and we’ve had chance to celebrate as well with our Queens Award for Enterprise for International Trade. The positivity of my team and the whole company is what will ensure we sail through the tough times. So, while much of the world is in crisis still and every industry is being tested to the limit, I wanted to recognise and appreciate those SMEs that have stood out to make a real difference for the future.
