Same time next year?

By Ian Abernethy

Now the biggest ever commercial AV event, ISE is a beast we just can’t get enough of. It takes over our professional lives for up to 6 months every year, and so after all the intense planning and alongside all the networking, lead generation, deal making and hall walking at the show, there has to be some after dark fun!

Since we’re a company renowned in the industry for our work hard, play hard culture, hosting our first evening reception during ISE seemed like a fantastic idea – and it was! Registration was full within a few days, everyone was talking about it, the venue had a party vibe, guests had a great time and we’ve had phenomenal feedback since from distribution partners, consultants, end users and trade press.

Through SurveyMonkey we’ve gathered some honest - and amusing - guest responses to gauge the success of the event overall. Despite an attempt at sabotage by an esteemed editor (you know who you are), we’re delighted to say that 100% agreed with our choice of date and over 70% would definitely attend next year (not one person said no). 100% of respondents also found the event to be organised with over 80% satisfied with pre-event information and over 90% finding the registration process easy. The choice of venue rated highly satisfactory for the vast majority, especially in terms of location and timing. We will address requests for a more varied choice of drinks, we will improve the wristband entry, we’ll throw in a few other improvements and will hire door staff to keep any wayward Amsterdammers out – and to give Gordon a break. We’ll also ensure the registration process is as straightforward as possible and that everyone invited gets a fair chance to sign up.

So this brings me to ask – same time next year? We’re thrilled to announce that we have rebooked the same venue on the Wednesday night during ISE 2016! Not only have we already confirmed our booking of the upstairs Escape Lounge, but we have also booked the downstairs café to cater for even more guests. Add the date to your diaries and we’ll be in touch later in the year with more details. In the meantime, here’s what a few people (names omitted to protect identities) said about the event.
“It was a really good night, great mix of people and for me was the highlight of the evening entertainment at ISE! Good work team Peerless!!!”

“Great evening, at a loss to think of any improvements. The lack of product is a great counter balance to the show itself and helps you focus on relationship development.”

“I thought it was a great evening, really enjoyed it. Well done.”

There’s always one (Paul Milligan) – “didn’t like the venue, no atmosphere, too sterile. bit cheesy. loads of nice bars in Amsterdam to choose from so no shortage of choice.” Leave a comment if you’d like to redeem yourself!

And now for the funnies:

“Ask Tracy Barrow to keep her wandering hands to herself :-)”

“Would it be possible for Keith to wear a slightly brighter "Smoking Jacket" next time so we can locate him a bit quicker?”

“I would get a better looking doorman, that Gordon put me off coming in!”

  1. I was actually generally positive about the event as a whole, just wasn't mad about the venue. I also didn't know my name would be the only one to feature next to a quote, whilst everyone else gets off scott-free!!

I do realise there is some irony in a journalist moaning about quotes being taken out of context...
